Helping the NHS to change the way it works.

The Strategic IM&T formerly known as West Midlands Programme for IT (WMPfIT) is working towards providing the NHS in the West Midlands with a joined up health system which will help us to look after patients more efficiently.
We support our NHS colleagues in acute hospital trusts, mental health trusts and Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) across the region to design, implement and use the new IT systems which will help to deliver better, safer and more connected care. Better information will lead to better health and care - for every patient.
We’re not all about IT!
There are lots of clinicians in the team and the majority of us have non-IT backgrounds. We’re about:
- Supporting the local NHS to deliver better, safer, quality care;
- Putting patients in the centre of our services;
- Empowering patients to give them choice and control.
Why do we need the Strategic IM&T?
- To meet patients’ growing expectations – about choice, control and convenience;
- For treatment to be provided in a variety of locations by a team of healthcare professionals;
- For effective sharing of information – for both patients and NHS staff;
- To enable and support patients to make the right decisions about their treatment.
